ZIS Upper School Design Principles

The designers of the ZIS upper school decided to make a principle that stated the need of a large central area which is bright and very open. The designers did a good job of this by creating a very open and bright first floor with a whole side full of windows. This area is very open and is used for relaxing and socializing with others. This area brings the school community closer together by all the different classes and grades being able to meet each other. This area is also used to eat during breaks so students can meet new people.

Hey,
I liked the fact that you described the entrance area and what the students do and how they feel about that, but it would have been better if you would have talked more about the architectural design and the form follows function concept. You talked about space and how everyone comes together in that one space, so that could be considered form follows function, because that space was built, so people could get there pretty quickly from basically any classroom in the building.
